Topic: Current Status and Future of Cryptocurrency
Overview: Participants will focus on what this means to accountants and what they need to be telling their clients about the tax implications of cryptocurrency.
Speaker: Michael Westwick, CPA (Tax Manager for Stitely&Karsetter, CPAs)
Speaker Bio: Michael Westwick has come from a traditional tax and financial planning background. He double majored in accounting and finance from Shippensburg University. During his tenure, he was among a team of students who actively managed the University’s portfolio of investments. (Fun fact, we competed against other student ran portfolios and came in second in growth) After school, Michael became licensed as a Certified Public Account and licensed financial Advisor. He has worked at numerous accounting firms and investment firms before Stitely & Karstetter.
His career goal is to join his finance knowledge with his tax work to "Deliver the highest & safest returns, given the client’s risk tolerance, while paying the least amount in taxes”.
Michael Westwick is on the board of directors of the Loudoun Estate planning Council and Dulles Young Professionals.
