Baltimore City Water Industry Career Mentoring Program Job Fair
7/28/2016

Event Description

Since February of 2016, 12 young men and women who are a part of this program have proven themselves to be motivated, dedicated, responsible individuals. They are all between the ages of 18 and 24 years of age, all high school graduates and a few of them have their driver’s license.  They have learned about different facets of the water industry and long-term career opportunities within it, and have gone through several weeks of job readiness training. These ambitious young adults currently have paid summer jobs with DPW. They have also been working with career mentors – professionals within the water industry – who have talked with them about their skills and interests, answered their work-related questions, and can serve as references.

Goal: Each participant to have a full-time job within the water industry by September 2016. The Mayor’s Office of Employment is partnering with the Department of Public Works and the Chesapeake Water Environment Association to hold a hiring event and job fair especially for these young people.

How you can help: Please introduce yourself to these well-qualified candidates whether you are currently recruiting for entry-level positions, or may have some openings in the near future.  Inform them of your company’s apprenticeship or training opportunities. For companies recruiting for specific positions, MOED will prearrange one-on-one interviews with any candidates whose skills and interests match your needs.

Please confirm your attendance by contacting Anthony Greene.
