JTAC Presentation

South Metro’s Non-Renewable Groundwater Bridge to Sustainable Water Supplies

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

Description:
The South Metro Water Supply Authority (SMWSA) has made tremendous progress securing a sustainable water future over the past 12 years thanks to aggressive efforts to conserve water, maximize efficiency, and invest in renewable water supplies. SMWSA recently worked with CH2M on its Master Plan Update documenting the progress and looking at future needs. This presentation will cover the history of SMWSA, progress to date, and plans for the future. The implementation status of the Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency (WISE) Project, SMWSA’s largest regional project, will also be covered.
Speakers:
Rick Marsicek is the Director of Engineering for South Metro Water Supply Authority (SMWSA) and is responsible for assisting SMWSA with the planning, design, construction, and operation of renewable water projects. He is currently focused on getting Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency (WISE) infrastructure constructed and ready for water deliveries. Prior to joining SMWSA, Rick was the Water Resources Planning Manager for Aurora Water, the third largest water provider in the state of Colorado and one of SMWSA’s partners in the WISE Partnership.
