Kartapurkh Khalsa Senior Counsel & Director of Customs Compliance, NOV
Kartapurkh S. Khalsa is Senior Counsel & Director of Customs Compliance for National Oilwell Varco. He is responsible for the creation and implementation of policies related to NOV’s global customs compliance program.
Mr. Khalsa has developed a wide-ranging customs compliance program, including the creation and implementation of policy controls regarding classification, valuation, use of special preference programs, and controls surrounding anti- dumping/countervailing duties.
Mr. Khalsa is NOV’s primary point of contact with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”) and oversees the company’s responses to CBP audits.
Catherine Van Way Head of Government Relations, Cummins Inc.
Catherine Van Way is Head of Government Relations for Cummins Inc. and is based in Washington, DC.
She has been with Cummins since 2001. She is currently head of the Washington office and leads the government relations function for the company globally. During her time with the company she has been responsible for a number of issues, including trade, energy, environment and appropriations.
She spent two years based out of the Cummins Beijing office, establishing a government relations presence for the company in China. Prior to joining Cummins, Ms. Van Way spent nearly 10 years as Counsel to the Committee on Energy and Commerce for the U.S. House of Representatives. During her tenure with the Energy and Commerce Committee, Ms Van Way worked on a variety of energy and environmental policy matters, including restructuring of the electric utility industry, oil and natural gas matters, and climate change.
Prior to that she was an Associate Attorney at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand. Ms. Van Way is a graduate of Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Diesel Technology Forum and is Treasurer of the Business-Government Relations Council.
