Grace Han, Global Counsel for Labor & Employment, Baker Hughes, a GE company.

Ms. Han is Global Counsel for Labor & Employment for Baker Hughes, a GE company. Previously, Grace held various Labor & Employment roles in her long and established career at General Electric Company. Grace originally joined GE as Counsel – Labor & Employment for Industrial Control Systems in 1994, and has served as Global Labor & Employment counsel for several GE businesses. She has been providing legal support and counsel to GE Oil & Gas and BHGE since 2013. Grace has experience in actively managing litigation, including handling employment mediations and arbitrations in-house; administering an Alternate Dispute Resolution Program; handling labor negotiations and arbitrations; in mergers, acquisition and disposition of businesses; counseling on compliance with applicable labor and employment laws, including international laws; and managing restructuring activities. Grace received her JD from Indiana University, and her undergraduate degree from Indiana University – Purdue University, Indianapolis. 

Carlo Cotrone, Senior IP Counsel, Baker Hughes, a GE company
Mr. Cotrone is Senior IP Counsel at Baker Hughes, a GE company (“BHGE”). As lead IP counsel for three BHGE business units, he manages the development and execution of offensive and defensive IP strategies, provides IP and general corporate advice, and negotiates agreements. He also is Adjunct Professor of Law at University of Houston Law Center, and a frequent conference speaker and author on topics such as IP strategy and asset management, legal ethics, collaboration and innovation strategies for law firms and corporate legal departments, and professional development. Carlo is the inventor of two United States patents directed to digital sheet music technology. Previously, he practiced law at several firms on the East Coast and in the Midwest, most recently as a partner.

Carlos M. Tamez, Head of Legal, Americas, Fugro
Mr. Tamez oversees Fugro’s legal department in the Americas in his role as Head of Legal, Americas. Fugro is a multinational organization that supports a wide variety of market sectors primarily in the fields of geodata acquisition, analysis and advice. Prior to his work at Fugro, Carlos was an in-house legal counsel for Repsol in The Woodlands, Texas, where he primarily supported a crude oil and refined products trading group. Prior to that, he was an in-house legal counsel with American President Lines, a multinational container shipping and logistics company. Carlos’ career began in private practice where he worked as an associate attorney with the law firm of Hill Rivkins LLP, a boutique law firm specializing in matters concerning admiralty law and its intersection with the energy industry. Carlos is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and the University of Houston and is fluent in Spanish.

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Panel
Valerie Banner, Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Executive Secretary, Exterran
Ms. Banner has over 35 years of global experience, including numerous years in executive management positions driving strategy, growth, risk management, governance, compliance and legal matters. In her role at Exterran, Ms. Banner serves on Exterran’s Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for the governance, risk management, compliance and legal functions. Ms. Banner also leads Exterran’s ESG initiatives, developed and leads its shareholder engagement program, and is founder of Exterran’s Women’s Forum. Ms. Banner co-chairs PESA’s ESG Committee, and was named a Trailblazer by the Greater Houston Woodlands Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of Women Corporate Directors, the Society for Corporate Governance and the National Association of Corporate Directors. Ms. Banner holds a BBA degree from Southern Methodist University and a JD degree from The University of Texas School of Law.

Jock Pool, Chief Compliance Officer, Oceaneering

Mr. Pool is the Chief Compliance Officer at Oceaneering where he is responsible for the global ethics & compliance program. Before joining Oceaneering, Jock worked for the UK’s BG-Group where he had overall governance and risk responsibilities for the company’s Americas & Europe regions and their Global Energy Markets businesses. Prior to that, he worked in the areas of risk, audit and process improvement, which included 10 years as a risk management consultant at Deloitte, LLP. He currently serves as the Co-chair of the Petroleum Equipment Services Association (PESA) ESG Committee. He is military veteran serving as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1995 to 1999 and a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a degree in International Business. He has resided in Houston since 1999.

Samantha Blons, Legal Counsel, Corporate, Schlumberger
Ms. Blons serves as Legal Counsel, Corporate for Schlumberger Limited. She is responsible for providing legal support for Schlumberger’s SEC reporting and other disclosure obligations, corporate finance transactions and other strategic matters. Prior to joining Schlumberger, she represented oil and gas clients and investment banks in securities offerings, liability management transactions, complex corporate reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions as an associate at the law firms of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Baker Botts L.L.P., each in Houston, Texas. Ms. Blons holds a Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Pepperdine University.
