The Executive Leadership Program provides an external opportunity for high potential personnel to engage in a structured year-long program that will develop key competencies and skills for their current role and prepare them for responsibilities of their next role. The Inclusive Leader course focuses on building leaders who foster a strong culture of inclusion, which improves employee engagement, affects employee productivity, is a recommended social practice in ESG and more.
The course offers unique development including: mentorship with an executive, personal executive coaching, accountability, assessments and group seminars. Materials are suitable for cross-functional leaders, business executives, operational leaders, mid- and senior-level managers, new leaders and individuals identified in succession planning.
This training program will provide tools for leaders across functions to affect internal change, focusing on building internal organization capability of inclusion and diversity. Utilizing an interactive webinar format, mentoring/coaching and executive sponsorship, the course will leverage the Council's Diversity Toolkit and strategies to help companies create individual plans of action. Course content includes perspective from leading diverse global companies and industry leaders. Sponsored by the I&D Engagement, HR and Emerging Executives Committees, in partnership with Envision, a global leader in corporate coaching.

The course concludes with Certification of Energy Workforce & Technology Inclusive Leader Program, signifying that the graduate has gained competence in stated focus areas around inclusion and diversity and promotes strategic thinking in the integration of these best practices.
Members who complete two of the Energy Workforce's year-long training programs will be recognized as an Energy Workforce & Technology Council Certified Executive. The designation is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and build knowledge essential to the oil and gas industry.

Curriculum
Two to three individual nominations plus executive sponsor with consideration to a diverse team. Cross-functional leaders with span of influence, demonstrated interest, internal credibility and strategic thinking skills. Individuals identified in the succession planning pipeline would be good candidates.

Inclusive Leader Program
Curriculum
- Course pre-work utilizing the Council Diversity Study Maturity Index to self-assess, change management tools
- Four half-day interactive webcast seminars on key learnings: Inclusion Journey, Unconscious Bias, Talent Pipeline and Retention, Business Case for Building and Sustaining facilitated by Accenture
- Coaching and mentorship
- Two executive plenary sessions with executive sponsor
- Required final report outlining plan for internal integration
- Create common goals: Common goals create common bonds, if everyone doesn’t move forward at the same time, the initiative will fail.
- Confront unconscious bias: Everyone has unconscious biases that originate in the brain – the amygdala, to be precise. This part of the brain reacts strongly when it sees pictures of races different from its owner. Recognizing the tribal nature of people and working with it (see above: create common goals) can help remove this “other-ness” response.
- Focus on inclusion: Inclusion goes beyond just hiring for diversity. Inclusion actively seeks out, embraces, and encourages different ways of approaching and solving problems.
- Move away from prohibitive language: Introduce the idea of choosing to lean into a diverse workplace instead of demanding or requiring that all employees accept each other

The Year-Long Inclusive Leader Path Overview
- Attend four half-day interactive webcast seminars:
- March 8, 2023, 8 a.m. – Noon
- May 17, 2023, 8 a.m. – Noon
- September 20, 2023, 8 a.m. – Noon
- November 8, 2023, 8 a.m. – Noon
- Read the Council Diversity Study Maturity Index and assess organization placement
- Review and complete course pre-work
- Attend one group coaching introductory webinar and two one-on-one executive coaching sessions
- Attend two Energy Workforce Meetings: The Council hosts a variety of meetings and seminars throughout the year including leadership forums, townhalls and market outlooks designed to fulfill program requirements
- Find a mentor (self-identified or paired by Energy Workforce) and meet with the mentor at least three times in 2023. Mentor Briefing Document will be provided
- Participate in external leadership development through community or Council involvement: work with a non-profit or Council committee in 2023*
- Accountability Partner Engagement
- Attend quarterly networking events
- Participate in facilitated cross company discussion
- Final report outlining plan for internal integration
- Graduation Reception held January 2024 for participants completing all program requirements
