Event Description

The Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation invites you to attend a Rural Resident Retention and Attraction Webinar on June 18th from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. PST

The webinar is open to all Economic Development Officers, Chambers of Commerce, BIAs, Local and Indigenous government staff and elected officials, and economic development corporations. The BC government is committed to working with our rural communities to strengthen their resilience, create jobs and build economic opportunities while enriching the unique lifestyle advantages that rural BC has to offer. Resident Retention and Attraction is a specific economic development strategy that uses varied approaches to address a community's goals for population size and composition. Retaining and attracting residents is one way of supporting sustainable and vibrant communities and economies.

During the webinar we will:

  • Review the new Rural Resident Retention and Attraction guidebook (coming soon…to be released June 18th),
  • Illustrate the process for developing and implementing an Rural Resident and Attraction strategy,
  • Hear from a BC community that developed an effective attraction campaign, and,
  • Provide an opportunity for questions and discussion.

We hope that you will be able to join us in creating vibrant rural communities! Any questions regarding the webinar can be directed to Gerri Brightwell at gerri.brightwell@gov.bc.ca
