Foundations of Trauma Informed Care - Key Concepts and Core Principles 0.2 CEUs

A history of trauma is extremely common in individuals presenting for mental health and/or substance use disorders treatment. A trauma-informed approach seeks to raise awareness about trauma among all behavioral health caregivers. This training will review key concepts and core principles of trauma-informed care and trauma-sensitive care and will explore how individuals can integrate these principles into their own approaches as Behavioral Health Providers, Programs, Agencies, and related Systems of Care.

Instructional Support is all about practices that promote higher-order thinking skills, extend learning, and encourage children’s use of language. In this session, participants will explore the CLASS Pre K tool to assist in lesson planning. The trainer will share examples and facilitate group planning and development of lesson plans linked to supporting instructional support, and participants will work in groups to brainstorm and then share their ideas with others.

Poison prevention covers a wide variety of substances both inside and outside of the home that can result in exposures. This training will review key concepts and strategies for poison prevention as well as common exposures. Additionally, this training will identify how individuals can utilize poison center resources, and the poison help hotline as Providers, Programs, Agencies, and related Systems of Care.

Navigating difficult conversations is essential to fostering open and healthy workplace dynamics. In this session, we will identify common defense mechanisms that hinder effective communication. Attendees will explore proven techniques for dismantling cultural and organizational behaviors that create barriers to a healthy dialogue. This training will also explore practice techniques to facilitate constructive dialogue.

Leading Integrated Teams: Nurturing Connections in the Workplace
Dr. Desiree Del-Zio, Ed.D.
Dr. Del-Zio earned a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego and an Education Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California.
She has thirty-five years of experience in the field of education. Her career began as a classroom teacher and continued advancing into organizational oversight. She is a proven management systems and operations leader with a record of creating high-functioning teams. Dr. Del-Zio served the Office of Head Start Federal Monitoring contract for six years as a Monitoring Lead and Operations Manager. Dr. Del-Zio is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of D.E.&C Consulting. Her firm offers private consulting services and customized service planning.
