Reg 85 - Tour Georgetown WWTP and How They are Ready for the Future Today

Event Type(s):
Tour

Description:
Come join us for a tour of Georgetown's Wastewater Treatment Plant and learn about their IFAS biological treatment system and Adsorptive Media polishing system. Georgetown is ahead of the curve for Reg 85 and Metals and Nutrients removal. Then join us nearby afterwards at Guanella Brewing for a special RMWEA facility tour and some product sampling. Carpooling depending on who registers. Free but limited to 20.

In an effort to accommodate increased flow as well as to meet new discharge permit requirements for metals and nutrients, the Town of Georgetown Colorado's wastewater treatment plant underwent an extensive upgrade in 2009-2011.  The Most notable upgrades included the addition of an Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludge (IFAS) system, and an adsorptive media system for tertiary polishing before discharge.  During the tour attendees will get an overview of the IFAS technology and see the system in work for BNR and BOD reduction.  We will also run through the tertiary filtration process that removes heavy metals and Phosphorus.  Georgetown is ahead of the curve as it relates to what’s coming down the road with Regulation 85…

Guanella Pass Brewery (GPB) was started in 2015 by Steve and Stacey Skalski along with Brewmaster Jon Srother.  GPB has about 10 wonderful beers you can try before, during and after a special RMWEA members-only tour. Hang out in downtown Georgetown as long as you like;
