Event Name:
TAC Luncheon - January 23, 2020

Description:

TAC Presentation

Unlocking the Mysteries of Granular Sludge & Results from the Metro District's Hydrocyclone Case Study

The first part of the presentation will be an overview of granular sludge presented by Art Umble, PhD. He will summarize what granular sludge is, available technologies, and highlight the potential benefits for the wastewater industry. The second half of the discussion, Isaac Avila with Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (Metro District), will present results from testing performed on a full-scale secondary treatment train located at the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility. Results from this effort suggest that through a combination of process changes and selective wasting using inDENSE hydrocyclones, aerobic densified solids can be formed and retained in plug-flow systems. The impact of these results on capacity will be discussed.
