Position Description: 
This position provides functional support to the established environmental and regulatory programs by assisting the program coordinators with the field operations, inspections, and data/record management. This position will also serve as an alternate laboratory analyst, proficient in the completion of daily water and wastewater analytical requirements. In addition, this position will assist the Director of ERC with the overall environmental and regulatory compliance for Cleveland Utilities. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the compliance of the Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plan, Underground Storage Tank (UST) program, Air Permit-by-Rule program, Sewer Overflow Response plan (SORP)
  • Assist with permitting (TVA 26a, NPDES, Air, UST) 
  • Prepare water and wastewater reports 
  • Review of regulations updates and new regulations
  • Perform field operations, inspections, data management for the following compliance programs: Water Quality Sampling, Distribution System Flushing, Industrial Pre-Treatment, Cross Connection Control, Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) programs and laboratory 
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures

Education/Experience/Skills Required: 
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree required, Field of study: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related science. Master of Science preferred. 
  • Practical knowledge in water regulatory, wastewater regulatory, laboratory or related environmental field
  • Experience in environmental compliance programs desired 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Possesses or has the ability to obtain the following certification: Tennessee Class II Distribution and Collection System, if needed; Level I and II Pretreatment Certification through Clean Water Professionals of Kentucky and Tennessee; Certificate of competency for Testing and Evaluating Backflow Prevention Assemblies from TDEC; and Class A Underground Storage Tank Operator 
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license
