A Child's VIEW: Vision in Extraordinary Ways Early Childhood Center is an on-site childcare resource for WPSBC staff members, located on the Oakland campus of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children and provides comprehensive blended childcare for children with or without visual impairments from the ages of six weeks to five years. This innovative program is designed to benefit all children, regardless of their ability level or sensory impairments. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, A Child's VIEW is a high-quality, innovative and comprehensive childcare program. Through a blended model, all children can learn alongside each other, learning about empathy, respect and diversity. All children within the classroom are given opportunities to build cognitive, language and social skills. Each day we strive to meet the needs of each child and work with parents to maintain a partnership that helps every student reach their full potential.

Full Time (7:45am-3:45pm)
Age Range: Infant-Preschool

Assistant Child Care Teacher

Reports to: Center Director

Position Summary:

The Assistant Teacher works with the Lead Teachers to provide a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on children’s growth and development while working in a collaborative and caring setting.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

Build warm, respectful relationships with children and respond to their individual needs.
Maintain a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
Protect the confidentiality of all children, families, and staff.
Implement curriculum and create a supportive, developmentally appropriate learning environment for children of varying ages and abilities.
Follow all DHS, STARS, & NAEYC regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma and two years of child care experience required.
CDA or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education preferred.
Must have or be able to obtain all required clearances (State Police, Child Abuse, Federal Criminal History, and National Sex Offender Registry).
Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training or willingness to obtain.
Health screening, including drug testing, is required.
