Brief Description
Stockton University is seeking a motivated individual with interest and experience in the fields of data analytics and/or institutional research. The candidate must be an excellent team player and consistently provide first-rate service while managing and prioritizing a dynamic workload. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the person will be responsible for undertaking various data projects using predictive analytics, statistical methods, and data science that will require data extraction from various databases using SQL and software specific formats. Project work will focus on, but will not necessarily be limited to, enrollment trends, student persistence and retention, and faculty data.

Job Details

The Professional Services Specialist 3 (PSS3), Office of Institutional Research is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

  • Extract data from the Student Information System (INB Banner) as well as other internal databases maintained by the University by writing reports using SQL and software specific formats.
  • Lead projects/analysis using predictive analytics, statistical methods, and data science
  • Conduct analysis related to enrollment trends, retention studies, and faculty data reports
  • Assist the Director in fulfilling complex internal and external data requests
  • Serve on data/reporting standards related committees
  • Support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required General Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Experience working with enterprise-level data across multiple functional areas
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques essential to performance of the specific responsibilities assigned.
  • Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, and apply established regulations, procedures, precedents, guidelines, and legal parameters.
  • Ability to organize assigned work, analyze problems, and develop appropriate work methods.
  • Ability to develop materials for publication.
  • Ability to establish liaison and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff or organizations.
  • Ability to prepare clear, technically sound, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Required Software Knowledge:

  • Argos (or similar report writing tool), Toad (or similar tool), Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel

Preferred Software Knowledge:

  • SPSS, INB Banner, Tableau, and/or Power BI

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science/analytics, statistics, and/or a related field.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in one or more combination of the following: data processing, statistics, data science/analytics, installation and maintenance of application programs, technical support, and/or design and preparation of programs.
