Description
We are looking for a full time employee to work from 10-6. This role is made up of two positions, from 10-2 pm as a preschool classroom
aid, and from 2-6 as an after school teacher for elementary age students.

All clearances and health assessments are required. Experience working with both age groups, and enrollment in or possession of a relevant Associates or higher in early childhood education is required.

Our School Age After School program serves children ages 6-12, five days a week from 2pm-6pm and on school closure days. During summer months, this position becomes part of the school age summer camp program. This program, called PhillyQuest! Serves 26 children grades K-5th.

Teachers are responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program for children. Our teachers nurture children, provide strong and compassionate classroom management and support a play based, Reggio Emilia inspired program. Applicants should be flexible, open minded, passionate about working in a developing program, excited to work in a collaborative setting, and willing to participate actively in redefining some of our practices. Our community is vibrant, diverse, creative, and not your average daycare or afterschool setting. You must be explicitly interested in and passionate about working with both age groups you are applying to work with.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Involvement in development of our current program
● Communication with parents and guardians
● Capacity to work in a teaching team with other teachers and Directors
● Develop activities that engage children’s interests, document learning, and create a pleasing school environment
● Establish and manage group agreements with the children
● Integrate special needs children in a respectful manner.
● Scaffold children’s learning and help facilitate exploration
● Support children to see themselves as capable participants in their own education
● Support children to develop conflict management skills with one another
● Provide friendly supportive structure and boundaries without being punitive
● Possess an understanding of child development
● Capacity to identify challenges in the classroom or that individual children are having and to create a plan of support that will lead to success
● Summer camp work requires walking and time outside on field trips.
