The Director is responsible for strategically directing and overseeing the University Child Development Center and its integral placement within the University community. The position will plan, organize, and direct quality early childhood education programs for up to 150 children and their families. The successful candidate will respond to the University's academic needs by providing laboratory, research, and practicum experiences to University students, faculty, as well as students from other higher education institutions in need of studying young children in classroom settings. The Director will collaborate with Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania communities on early childhood education and provide resources and technical assistance in implementing appropriate programs and practices that serve young children. The Director oversees and directs the Center staff (approximately 60 employees), serves as a representative and advocate for the Center, obtains and maintains the Center's license and accreditation statuses, and ensures programs are compliant with all University, local, state, and federal regulations. The Director oversees all major administrative functions of the Center including budget, human resources, facilities, and enrollment functions as well as leads, develops, and directs external relations efforts including public relations, marketing, and community and parent relationships. This position requires a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field, plus five years experience working as a Director of a Center. Experience within a higher education campus setting is preferred. A Doctoral Degree is also preferred.
