Greetings everyone.
As I write this Communique, I’m reflecting on the Board of Directors meeting just completed today (Tuesday, April 18), as we discussed plans for the Annual Meeting to be held in Fresno, our Committee reports, and other business before the board.
Member’s 2023 annual dues are past due after March 31 (for those of you who were on the Member Roster as of January 1). Those of you who have joined since January 1 should have received an e-mail with your dues notice. Let Jean Merry know if you did not receive one.
The annual meeting planning is coming along well. Our theme this year will be “Go West! Stake Your Claim in Ag Consulting.” We will be at the Wyndham Garden Fresno Yosemite Airport Hotel Sunday – Tuesday, November 5 – 7. An CAC educational program is being developed for Wednesday, November 8, for those who will want to participate in it. Details will be forthcoming.
Keep recruiting your industry contacts and let’s get the Society growing. I envision a membership roster of 100 members over the next two years. This is easily achievable.
Print the ASAC Directory and keep it handy. With new members being added, it will be outdated each month. When you catch some slack time, make it a point to contact some of the other members and build some relationships. This will be deeply gratifying and surely will be mutually beneficial to everyone and to the Society.
Bill Zweigbaum manages the Certified Agricultural Consultant (CAC) program. We’re working to get this program to the top of everyone’s mind, promoting its benefits not only to the membership, but also as a tool for new member recruitment and professional development. Check it out and work on certification.
Watch for communications from Jean Merry, executive director, about our initiatives through the various committees (Strategic Alliance, Marketing and Promotion, Continuing Education). Stay informed about our activities. Participate; find an interesting topic and help develop a program. We’ll publicize and promote it.
I’ll be out of the country in May and will miss the meetings. I will try to take some time and send a Communique message for posting during the month. On a personal note, if anyone knows of some agricultural sites or events in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, or Germany that I may visit, let me know. I’ll have some time to devote to agricultural tours.
