Keith Dickinson (r) passes the gavel to Dave.

As we near the end of ASACs 61st year and wrap-up a very successful annual conference in Fort Myers, Florida, we are already looking into what 2025 will bring! ASAC has a very strong foundation of membership that spans not only across the country, but abroad, and spans into almost every corner of the agricultural industry. Add to that, solid leadership, and we seek to expand upon both over the next 12 months.

I’m excited to continue to build upon what ASAC has accomplished and look to cross-reference existing membership, leadership, and past presentations (primarily from ASAC annual conferences), with increased web presence, podcasts, and exposure, to bring you up-to-date news, information, and market trends.

Your participation, needs, and wants are very important to ASAC leadership. This year, I pose this question to each member: “Am I doing my part?” With the collective input/energy/attendance, member experience will drastically increase.  As we have always worked to capitalize on opportunities brought on by our existing membership, we will also work to capitalize on opportunities outside of our membership.

If you are currently an ASAC member, I encourage you to get the full value for your membership.

Attend an annual conference. Our Meeting Committee Chair Abigail Byerly is planning for a great conference November 2-4, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Go ahead and mark your calendars.

Keep your eye out for newly improved social media presence from ASAC.

Participate in the educational webinars and ‘Shop Talk’ roundtable discussions that our Continuing Education Committee hosts throughout the year. Those roundtable discussions are strongest when we have a good representation of the diverse backgrounds and ideas that our members represent.

Get certified as a Certified Agricultural Consultant (CAC). It’s part of the ASAC brand and it’s a way to show that you are an Agricultural Consultant who is committed to the delivery of high-quality consulting services with a focus on the best interests of your client.

Get involved in a committee. I don’t ask that you commit to more than one, but I do ask that you commit to at least one. A heavy load is lighter with many hands. Contact these folks to become involved.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING NOTES, November 2024

President's Report – Keith Dickinson

Kudos were offered for the staff at the conference hotel – very helpful and responsive. Very nice property. The regular November Board Meeting for the 19th will not be needed. Next meeting is December 17. It was determined to keep the same BOD Meeting schedule for the coming year. Concept of Membership Survey was discussed to include why/why not for annual conference attendance and reasons for non-renewals by members, etc. Several board members stayed after the meeting to discuss further.

Accreditation (CAC) Committee – Bill Zweigbaum, Chair

Need to do more work on the tracking and recording of CEUs and getting reminders out to CACs.

Continuing Education Committee - Scott Mickey, Chair

Summarized upcoming webinar and Shop Talk, as posted on the website, and announced potential prospects for January and February. Notes from the Field will continue to be twice per month. Russell also announced there will be additional CEU courses planned for early 2025, followed by more courses as the year goes forward.

Nominating Committee – Pete Weisenberger - Chair

Reviewed slate and reiterated that we need someone to fill the VP/Secretary position and hopefully will get a nomination from the floor.

Strategic Alliance Committee – Norm Brown - Chair

Extended discussion on the purpose of the Strategic Alliances following the fact that no member responses were received to the grid requesting input. Suggestion is to look at this type of effort being part of marketing and promotion and/or membership. There are opportunities for collaborative efforts, but not on the formalized basis that the committee is attempting to develop. Since it is an ad hoc committee, the president has the option to disband, change or reorganize the committee in some other fashion.

Next Board of Directors Meeting - December 17 - 11 a.m. CST (open to all members to listen in):
