Happy Holidays to All! I want to take a moment to say thank you to our members, partners, and supporters. The renewed level of engagement we’ve seen across OSFAA this year has been energizing and deeply appreciated. From increased participation to meaningful conversations at our events, it’s clear that our members are invested in the future of this association and the industry we serve.
I’m especially excited to share that OSFAA membership grew by 30%+ in 2025. Welcoming so many new members while continuing to strengthen relationships with our longtime supporters is a tremendous accomplishment, and a testament to the value this association is providing once again! I want to welcome all of our new members. We’re glad you’re here and look forward to working with you in the new year! |

This year also delivered some truly standout moments, including the tremendous success of our Annual Meeting and the Clay Shoot. Both events exceeded expectations, bringing our industry together in ways that reinforced the importance of connection, learning with and from each other, all layered in with fun activities! These wins would not have been possible without the hard work of our Board of Directors, sponsors, and members. I am incredibly grateful for their dedication!
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about what’s coming next. In 2026, OSFAA will be launching a series of quarterly events designed to keep our members connected, informed, and engaged throughout the year. We can’t wait to share more details as we charge forward! Thank you for being part of OSFAA and for making this such a strong and meaningful year. I look forward to what we will accomplish together in the months ahead. Sincerely, Keri-Ann Kalavity President, OSFAA

| Why Associations Still Matters in a Digital World!
All things AI, everything on the cloud, digital assets, and always being connected has changed the way we live and work. As our world becomes increasingly digital, from cloud-based systems to remote monitoring and automation, it’s easy to assume that technology alone will drive progress; however, experience tells us something different. Strong associations matter now more than ever! While tools and platforms may change, the need for shared standards, best practices, trusted relationships, and collective advocacy remains constant. |
|
|
Our Annual Meeting last month was the perfect example of the value of coming together to learn, engage with other industry professionals, and build new relationships with peers and vendors alike!
For our members, OSFAA means more than access to benefits or training. It means peer learning, accountability, and a unified voice when engaging with regulators, AHJs, and other stakeholders. It’s where best practices are shared, challenges are addressed collaboratively, and professionalism is reinforced across the industry. In our fast-moving environment, those connections help ensure innovation doesn’t come at the expense of safety or quality.
OSFAA exists to be that steady foundation for our members. As we close out the year, let's remember the real value of our association and tap into it! OSFAA is grounded in shared knowledge, mutual support, and a commitment to the standards that protect both our industry and the communities we serve. If you are a current member, thank you! If you are interested in joining our rapidly growing association, we would love to welcome you in 2026!
Kind Regard, Shannon Few |

Smart Video Products: Business Models & Features |
|
|
Excerpt from Parks Associates |
|
|
"Smart video is the most widely adopted smart home category and the frontline of security, privacy, AI, and ecosystem battles. Industry players need clear, current insights into consumer demand, emerging features, competitive differentiation, and monetization pathways to navigate a rapidly shifting landscape. - Hardware is commoditizing fast, with every major brand expanding portfolios across indoor, outdoor, battery, floodlight, and ultra-budget lines, turning the market into a coverage and ecosystem game.
-
AI has become the core differentiator as video devices shift from passive recording to proactive security and intelligent event interpretation.
- Ecosystem competition and partnerships intensify, raising the stakes for consumer ownership and service revenue.
-
Subscriptions now define the business model, with major brands raising prices, expanding storage tiers, and introducing AI-enhanced service layers to grow recurring revenue."
