President's Message

Welcome to our brand-new monthly newsletter entitled, The Current!

I’m excited to share several positive developments as we continue building momentum for the North Carolina Security& Low Voltage Association (NCSLVA). We have launched our new website and our association is growing stronger, more engaged, and more focused than ever on delivering meaningful value to our members and industry professional across the State. Please keep an eye out for an email from our new system that will include your login information later today.

In this new era, we are committed to expanding education, strengthening industry relationships, and creating opportunities for our members to connect in ways that support both professional growth and business success.

A big part of that momentum comes from bringing our association together, and as such we are expanding our 2026 Event Calendar to include quarterly meetings! Please see our full schedule below. With that, we have two great opportunities right around the corner!

First, we’re looking forward to our NCSLVA Membership Meeting & Hurricanes Game on February 26th in Raleigh. This will be a fun, and informative networking event where members can connect, build relationships, and enjoy a great night of hockey.

Then in April, we will host our Annual Convention, one of the most important events of the year for our association. This gathering will bring together integrators, manufacturers, and industry leaders from across North Carolina for education, collaboration, and valuable face-to-face time with peers and partners. Our convention is designed to deliver both practical insight and meaningful connections that members can take back to their businesses immediately.

These events are just part of our broader commitment to making NCSLVA a strong, unified voice for our industry in North Carolina. Your involvement is what makes this association thrive, and I encourage every member to take advantage of these opportunities to engage, learn, and connect.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support and participation. I'm confident that 2026 will be an incredible year for our association and for you as a member to gain a higher level of value through your engagement with us!

I look forward to seeing you at the Hurricanes game in February and at our Annual Convention in April. Please click the links below to get registered!!

Sincerely,

Darwin Smith

NCSLVA President

Educating With Purpose!

As your new Executive Director, I am excited to share that NCSLVA is entering a new chapter centered on delivering real, practical value to our members and the industry. At the heart of this revitalization is our commitment to provide you with valuable resources, and help you build your business, and develop your team for the future!

We have so much in store for 2026 and I can't to see you in person to walk you through all of the exciting enhancements we have been working on!

First, we are launching a new online training program powered by Alarm Academy, bringing flexible, industry-specific education directly to your team. Our modern training platform delivers high-quality courses designed for security, fire alarm, and low-voltage professionals that is accessible anytime, from anywhere. Whether you’re needing CEUs, onboarding new technicians, sharpening the skills of experienced staff, or building leadership within your organization, NCSLVA now provides a convenient and effective way to support your team.

Even more importantly, many of these courses are approved for continuing education (see below for details), helping you and your team stay compliant while strengthening technical and operational expertise. That means your required CE hours can now directly support real skill development that benefits your company in the field.

This initiative is more than just another member benefit, it’s an investment in the long-term strength of our industry here in North Carolina. By offering structured learning paths and practical resources, we’re helping member companies build knowledgeable, confident teams that can keep pace with evolving technology and code requirements.

And while online learning adds flexibility, in-person connection remains just as important. We are also focused on creating opportunities for members to come together, share ideas, and build relationships that make our association stronger through the quarterly events Darwin shared above!

I encourage you to take full advantage of your membership, enroll your team in our new training program, earn continuing education credits, and stay engaged with NCSLVA as we continue building momentum across the State.

Kind Regards,

Shannon Few

NCSLVA Executive Director
