Indigenous Community Business Fund
The Indigenous Community Business Fund will provide $117 million in non-repayable financial contributions to help support operating costs for First Nation, Inuit and Métis community-or collectively-owned businesses and microbusinesses whose revenues have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund seeks to provide support for businesses that do not qualify for other Government of Canada COVID-19 relief measures.
It is intended to relieve financial pressure and allow these businesses and microbusinesses to strengthen operations and support their viability during the pandemic, with the goal of positioning them for recovery.
Stream 2 Now Available
Funding will be proposal-based. Applications must be submitted by the community or collectives on behalf of the business. Funding will be transferred directly to communities and collectives. For First Nations and Inuit community-owned businesses, the funding will be administered by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) regional offices. For Métis collectively-owned businesses, funding will be administered by delivery partners.
To apply for stream 2 funding:
1. Complete the Indigenous Community Business Fund Financial Assistance Application form
2. Include with your application the form above and:
- the most recent interim financial statements such as a year to date balance sheet and profit or loss statement
- a copy of your business continuity or recovery plan
- letters patent or incorporation documents, if incorporated
Submit your application package to your ISC regional office representative by email.
You will receive an acknowledgement notification within 2 business days of submitting an application to the ISC regional office.
Other documents could be requested from the applicant if needed. If you have been in operation for less than 1 year, please provide interim financial statements.

The Grand Forks Downtown Business Association (DBA) is proud to announce the “Grand Forks: The Place to Grow Your Business” initiative. In partnership with the City of Grand Forks and other funding partners, the initiative is aimed at recruiting new business to the downtown core of the City. The downtown business community has demonstrated true grit and determination in the face of significant economic disruption over the past few years and is now looking to the future with enthusiasm. The “ Grand Forks: The Place to Grow Your Business ” initiative seeks to continue to build on momentum in the downtown core by offering new businesses the opportunity to have the first six (6) months of their lease paid free.
“We are seeking dynamic, community-oriented businesses that want to work, live and play in a rural community like Grand Forks”, say Alf Him of the DBA, “We are proud of the success our downtown businesses have had despite significant adversity and want to continue to build on this by recruiting new business that will add to the vibrancy, shop local culture, pedestrian-friendly feel of our downtown core”.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has decimated our economy and has caused severe disruptions to all facets of life and business. In the early stages, much was unknown and the first reaction to contain the situation was to shut down or curtail activities and contact.
The nature of these impacts on business: from local staffing, safety and physical distancing concerns, to maintaining the ability to meet customer needs, to more global supply chain and export concerns needs to be understood in order to respond effectively. This has been especially challenging for manufacturers.
