The Winnewana Ride is a free self-support gravel/mixed terrain ride. The ride is not a race and it’s not a no drop ride either. You can call it a glorified training ride, fake racing, or a chill ride with friends, if you need to call it something. Go as fast or as slow as you’d like. In the land of Winnewana, it’s not about winning or losing. It’s about surviving! Bring a cell phone, snacks, fluids, tubes, money, a fork, and any other supplies that you may need. If you want to be guaranteed to ride with someone, keep up with one of the groups that will form along the way, or bring all your rad cycling friends. Proceeds from the post-ride raffle will go to Karen’s Trail. Please take a moment to review this guide so you can survive this ride!

START/FINISH LOCATION

TICKER TRAINING - 4109 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 has graciously offered to host the 2019 Winnewana Ride. Learn more about Ticker Training and what they have to offer athletes at www.tickertrained.com

RIDING TO THE START

Here is a good way to get to Ticker Training if you are riding on your bike to the start from downtown Ann Arbor https://www.strava.com/routes/20752129

ROUTES

The Winnewana Ride is a self-supported ride, which is code for you better know where you are going. We recommend that you download the route from Strava to put on your Garmin... or follow a friend you trust who has done so. If you don’t know how to do that try asking a local shop who carries Garmin to help you out. We will roll at 8:08am from TICKER TRAINING - 4109 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

WHEELS IN MOTION TREK RAFFLE

Show up between 7:30-7:45am to purchase tickets to win a TREK bike from Wheels in Motion. You can buy tickets before the ride starts for $1.00/ticket. Buy as many tickets as you'd like to increase your chances of winning and to support a good cause. Don’t lose your tickets and better yet take some photos of them just in case you do. The winning ticket will be drawn while we are out riding and you can find out who won when you get back from the ride. 100% of the proceeds go to KAREN’S TRAIL :  http://huron-waterloo-pathways.org/karens-trail/

The Bucket List Trip

Back by popular demand! We are excited to bring back our epic southern Cross Country USA trip for the first time since 2013 with some exciting new twists! On this ultimate bucket list trip, you’ll ride over 3,400 miles and climb more than 139,000 feet as you make your way from Santa Barbara to Myrtle Beach in 42 days with four rest days. That’s an average of 93 miles and over 3,700 feet of climbing per day. This adventure will take you from the Pacific Coast of California to the vast basins of the Mojave Desert, past the mystic spires of Monument Valley and the volcanic fields and high desert of New Mexico. Oklahoma will give you a chance to catch your breath before the terrain ramps up again as you enter Ozark country. From here, you’ll traverse the green rolling hills of the Great Smoky Mountains as you pedal through Tennessee and North Carolinas and then settle in for the big finish as you approach the Atlantic Ocean. Through the miles, you’ll take in a sunrise over the Grand Canyon, pedal portions of historic Route 66, feed wild burros in the historic town of Oatman, two-step the night away listening to Nashville’s best country music, and admire the views from Caesar’s Head before descending into quaint downtown Greenville. And these are just a few of the highlights you’ll encounter along the way. This ride is an extreme challenge and the ultimate experience for any avid cyclist. The reward is an accomplishment that only few can claim – and memories that will last a lifetime. Looking for a shorter version of this trip? Check out our Santa Barbara to Taos option.
