Profile:
Matt Amy is an arranger, composer, orchestrator, trombonist and musical director based in Melbourne, Australia. He has written arrangements for big bands, orchestras, pit and T.V bands for artists such as Ronan Keating, Melanie C, Anthony Callea, Guy Sebastian, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. and orchestras such as Auckland Philharmonia, Istanbul Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony and Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Matt began writing at the age of 14 where his works were performed by his high school big band and chamber groups, local community big band and brass band. While in high school Matt had the opportunity to travel to New York with the senior big band to perform at the International Association of Jazz Educators where three of his arrangements were performed to high acclaim.

While studying for his Bachelor of Music (composition) Matt was working closely with his mentors Jordan Murray, Daryl McKenzie and Chong Lim which saw him writing arrangements for most T.V shows that still used a live band including Dancing with the Stars, Australia’s Got Talent, Australian Idol, It Takes Two, The Singing Bee and working as a copyist on feature film Death Defying Acts.

Matt quickly established himself as a versatile arranger/transcriber that saw him working for artists from the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Big Bands throughout Europe, U.S.A, Australia, and Asia and orchestras within Australia, Turkey and New Zealand. He held the role of Head of Arranging for the Victorian State School Spectacular (2012 – 2014) where he oversaw the arranging and printing process of 38+ orchestral works for a professionally staged arena production involving more than 3,000 dance and music students from all over Victoria, Australia. As a musical director Matt has worked on various festivals and corporate events which has seen him writing arrangements and waving the baton along side Kate Cebrano, Angry Anderson, Normie Rowe, James Morrison, Brian Cadd, Wendy Matthews and Wilbur Wilde to name a few.

He is no stranger to the studio either working as a producer/engineer on various projects while developing the best product possible. He has engineered and co produced the jazz ensemble recordings for the Brolga Music Publishing Company in 2015 and 2016 as well as smaller projects including Euan Doidge's "Let It Sing" in 2014.
