NELA/NY BRAINSTORMING SESSION ON USE OF THE LIST SERVE:  HOW BEST TO CREATE AND ENSURE
AN OPEN FORUM THAT IS INCLUSIVE AND RESPECTFUL TO ALL

Location: Outten & Golden
Date:  June 6, 2019
Time: 5:30 – 8:30 PM
Cost: FREE
Refreshments: light dinner will be provided

Please join NELA/NY for an important open forum to discuss the NELA/NY List Serve and how the membership sees its use going forward. Topics will include: etiquette, respect, and civility; off topic posts; how to promote openness and a wide range of opinions; how to ensure that no one feels silenced or discriminated against; best practices for the Board/and or Organization in regulating List Serve content and complaints about posts.

The session will be facilitated by people who know how to handle differences of opinion, and who are trained in recognizing and educating about implicit bias. They will help us to talk to each other in a supportive, purposeful way. To learn more about our facilitators, click on their name: Maria Volpe and Christopher Watler.

In preparation for this forum, NELA/NY will be sending out a survey by mid-May.  This anonymous and confidential survey will allow for broader participation and will enable the facilitators to focus on issues of most concern to the membership at this event.

Please help us to make this community inclusive, respectful and safe for everyone. Respond to the survey, come to the brainstorming session, and contact nelany@nelany.com if you want to do even more.
