Corporate support represents an important income stream for many associations and non-profits. When seeking support based on the premise that “we are a good cause” or offering traditional benefits (e.g. tables at a gala dinner, conference booths), corporations reduce their spend.

Successful non-profit organizations recognize that they must go beyond standard and outdated benefits if they are to increase corporate funding. The focus of this program is to review the proven strategies and tactics to increase corporate sector revenue.


Objectives: 
During this discussion, participants will:
  •   Learn the key steps to establish a successful sponsorship/partnership program
  •   Understand how to leverage board member and volunteers for assistance 
  •   Review key financial factors that can enhance results
  • ? Cover approaches to address the unique dynamic between the finance and development departments

Lewis Flax specializes in assisting non-profit organizations generate corporate support. He has provided guidance related to fundraising efforts with a specific focus on developing corporate support through increasing sponsorship funding, establishing partnerships, and implementing board development initiatives. His Firm, Flax Associates (established in 2008), offers guidance to national and local non-profit organizations.

A frequent trainer and speaker, he has led board retreats, board and staff trainings, and presented on behalf of many organizations catering to the non-profit community. He has led sessions for organizations including ASAE, BoardSource, Bridge Conference, Center for Non-Profit Advancement, The Foundation Center, Point of Light Institute and United Way.

Lewis fully understands the challenges non-profits face, both from an outside consultant’s point of view and from the internal perspective of a non-profit executive. Previously, Lewis served as a Vice President for IEG, a leading consulting firm. Prior experience also includes heading up development efforts at Financial Executives International (FEI).
