With the effective date of January 1, 2019 for ASC 606 for nonpublic entities, we will discuss lessons learned in the implementation and disclosure requirements.

Mike CannonCPA
Director, Government Contracting


Michael Cannon is an audit director based in the firm’s DC Metro offices (Tysons, VA and Bethesda, MD) with nine years of accounting experience in the government contracting industry. He specializes in providing audit, consulting, and accounting services to government contractors, non-profit entities, and employee benefit plans including ESOPs. He possesses a working knowledge of federal regulations, including Small Business Administration (SBA), 8(a) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), cost principles and accounting policies for federal government contractors.

In addition, he has experience consulting client management on overhead allocation methods; preparing overhead incurred cost submissions for the Defense Contract Audit Agency (“DCAA”); and assisting with DCAA accounting system reviews.

Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Michael was a manager at a leading accounting and professional services firm. He is knowledgeable of the Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations declared for employee benefit plans. Michael has provided consultation with various issues such as self-correction submissions with the Internal Revenue Service and recently issued accounting pronouncements effecting the industry.

Sirena Johnson
Partner, Co-Practice Leader, Government Contracting 


Sirena Johnson is a partner and co-practice leader of the firm’s Government Contracting Practice based in the firm’s DC Metro offices (Tysons, VA and Bethesda, MD). Sirena specializes in providing audit, consulting, and accounting services to government contractors, technology companies, and employee benefit plans. 

Prior to joining Citrin, Sirena was a partner at another leading accounting and professional services firm. She has been awarded the George Mason University Alumni Association’s Alumni Service Award and the School of Business Alumni Service Award, and was named a Prominent Patriot for George Mason University in 2017.
Sirena has also been named a “Super CPA” by the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) and the Virginia Business Magazine in the category of Small Business Consulting.
