AGENDA

12:30 p.m. -Welcome and Introduction

12:40 p.m. -Presentation: Intelligent Water System and its Applications in Wastewater System
Applying advanced data analytics through machine learning (ML) artificial intelligence (AI) to make more informed decisions is emerging across wastewater. The three presenters for this webinar will firstly introduce one project example to demonstrate how machine learning model using existing operational data and online instrument data to predict key operational parameters and optimize chemical dosage for headworks odor and corrosion control, without impacting downstream enhanced biological phosphorus removal process. Then the presenters will discuss the basic concept of ML and AI and its potential applications in the wastewater industry for operation optimization and decision support.  Lastly, the presenters will discuss an ongoing effort developing data driven machine learning models in wastewater treatment unit process for process optimization and operational support to reduce chemical and energy cost and improve operational reliability for energy efficient water reclamation facility.

Speaker 1: Ms. Fenghua Yang, P.E, BCEE, Senior Environmental Research Scientist, MWRD
Speaker 2: Mr. Matthew Jurjovec, P.E., Senior Engineer, MWRD
Speaker 3: Dr. Yongning Tang, Professor of Computer Science, ISU

1:30 pm-Q & A, Networking and Trivia Team Set Up

2:00-3:00 pm -Water Themed Fundraiser Trivia- Proceeds Go to H2O for Life
The Trivia event will be led by Trivia professional Sally Brockman and is designed to be fun and interactive and will have water-themed topics (music, movie, and technology)  as well as a general knowledge round. You can sign up as a team of five or if you sign up as an individual teams will be selected during the networking portion. There will be a total of 48 points possible for all four rounds and we promise that you don’t need to have a PhD to answer the technical questions (however, it is likely that someone with a PhD will be on the team to help out). Most importantly, by signing up you will be helping a great organization – H2O for Life – and we will hear more about it from Mictchell LeGrand at the end of the networking session. So, don’t miss this great opportunity to get connected and make a positive contribution that helps young people become excited and engaged in solving water challenges of our day!
