Minor's Counsel Training - NEW APPLICANT

This online webinar covers all 12 hours of training required by California Rules of Court, Rule 5.24 for Minor's Counsel to apply as a new member on the Minor's Counsel panel. This is geared for new applicants only. In particular, this session covers applying to the panel and addresses FAQs.
- Topics include a panel on Implicit Bias in Child Custody Cases – traps for Minor’s Counsel – being aware of your approach to your client. The panel will discuss issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and gender-specific issues.
- We will also discuss how much weight Minor’s Counsel should give to a child’s preference and what to do when you do not agree with your client. What exactly is in the best interests of the child?
- Conjoint therapy – does it really work the way we think it does?
- Authority of appointment, move-away issues;
- Developing a rapport with children;
- Interviewing for abuse & how that applies to Minor's Counsel interviewing & work;
- Preparing children for Family Court Services or Judicial interview & much more
