Topic: Estate Planning in 2022 without Building Back Better

Objectives: Participants will obtain a better understanding of current federal estate and gift tax law in light of the Build Back Better Plan not being passed by Congress.  Participants will understand some of the proposed language that would impact their and their clients’ estate planning objectives, and potentially still could if Build Back Better rebounds and gets passed.

John Morgan is Counsel with Rees Broome, PC in Tysons Corner.  In addition to being licensed as an attorney in Virginia, Maryland, D.C., and West Virginia (as of January 26, 2022), he is a CPA in Virginia and is a Certified Financial Planner™.  His practice focuses on estate planning, estate administration, and federal and state tax controversy.  John received his B.A. from the College of William and Mary, J.D. from the Catholic University of America, and LL.M. in Taxation (with distinction) from Georgetown University Law Center.  John also currently serves as a JAG Officer in the West Virginia Air National Guard in Charleston, West Virginia.
