Lunch & Learn: IIT Chapter of Engineers Without Borders Yucka Boliva Project
8/17/2022
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

Event Description
EWB-IIT members build relationships with communities around the world to assess needs and develop engineering solutions/designs to address water and sanitation problems. They volunteer time, energy, and expertise to apply what they've learned in school to the real world and help communities who are in need. The chapter is a part of every single step of the engineering process: fundraising for the projects, designing the engineering solutions, constructing the latrines, and educating the communities. The chapter is nearing completion of a latrine design project for a community in Bolivia. The community of Yucka, Bolivia lacks permanent latrine infrastructure, and thus community members often defecate in open areas, a practice that increases the risk of infectious disease within the community. The EWB-IIT Bolivia project will focus on amending the lack of latrines in the community to improve overall health with the construction of sanitary latrines. Working with the community members, they've learned a lot about the culture and the importance of clear communication! Please join this webinar that will include a presentation about their project and the knowledge they've gained while working with the Yucka community.

All registration money is being donated to the project. Earn a CEU and support this worthwhile cause.
