The presentation will discuss an advisory digital twin of the 250 MGD (920,000 m³/d) Changi Water Reclamation Plant (CWRP) created for the Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) by Jacob Engineering.  This digital twin include process, hydraulics and controls simulation. The goal of the digital twin is to provide operational staff new insight into the ongoing operations and maintenance of the facility, supporting increased productivity and enhancing operational resilience.  The CWRP digital twin is a “hybrid” digital twin in that it combines the strengths machine learning and mechanistic models to achieve the project goals. It has over 1,200 automated data inputs directly from both the SCADA system and the laboratory information management (LIMs) system. There are three primary functionalities of the digital twin. First, comparison between model predictions and measured data can be used to highlight areas which require particular attention by operators and maintenance staff, thus minimizing their efforts. The second use of the calibrated model includes automated evaluation of various operational scenarios, both operator defined, and fixed that can be used by staff to gauge process resiliency. Lastly, the auto-calibrated model is being used to predict the likelihood of future events at the wastewater facility up to 5 days in the future at one hour intervals that operations can use to help proactively operate the facility.
