Virtual Learning Journey to Iran: Explore the variety of Iran with a special focus on women
26/6/2020 16:00:00 - 17:30:00
Event Description
On the initiative of our member Maryam Kazemi a Learning Journey to Iran originally had been planned for spring 2019. Many EWMD members were interested and were looking forward to it. As the preparations were going forward with lots of enthusiasm, the international political developments turned everything down. Since then, many times the question was raised, if a journey to Iran would be possible in a near future. This brought us the idea of a virtual journey to the land of 1001 nights, especially during this time of uncertainty and closed borders.
This virtual journey on June 26, 2020 gives you some feeling of what you may experience or confront in a typical journey to Iran. Additionally, we aim to give you a sense of great resilience and creativity that people achieved under past and current limitations.
The journey is led by Maryam Kazemi from Germany and her brother from Iran. For the journey, we follow our previously planned route that encompasses the following issues:
General information about Iran´s geography, ethnology, current social and economic aspects
Life and industry in Tehran: interviews with women professionals in different sectors
Kashan: tradition of roses destillary at the edge of desert
Isfahan: city of blue mosques, industry hub and hometown to Armenian Christians
Yazd: ancient city of Zoroastrians and Qanats (ancient water-reservations) in the middle of one of the hottest desert on earth
Persepolis: the ancient (500BC) capital of Achamenids
Shiraz: the city of poetry, orangeries and nomads with an important role in university education, medical system and industries of today´s Iran
Life under COVID-19 and the role of women
Discover the country from a very special perspective.
