Event Description

A Look at Northern Water's Pending Water Storage Projects: Chimney Hollow, Glade and Galeton Reservoirs

Thursday, March 39, 2018

Description:
The population in northeastern Colorado and along the Front Range is projected to continue to grow at a significant rate. Where will the water come from to support that growth? New water storage projects will be critical to supporting population growth as well as accompanying industrial growth, while also serving the needs of agriculture. This month's luncheon seminar will dive into (no pun intended) Northern Water's planned reservoir projects, which will have region-wide significance for municipal and agricultural water users along the South Platte drainage area.

Speaker: Brian Werner, Norther Water
Brian is a native Coloradoan and water historian who has spent 36 years actively involved in water resources management in Colorado. He is the Public Information Officer and Head of the Communications and Records Department for the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District in Berthoud.

As Head of Communications for Northern Water he is responsible for educating the citizens of Colorado about all things water. Brian has spent much of his career giving presentations and educating the public about the history of water development and natural resource issues in Colorado and the American West.

Directions:
The luncheon will be held at Red Rocks Community College, at 13302 Fox Run Rd. Exit from 6th Avenue at Indiana Street and head south to the West 6th Avenue Frontage Road. Turn east and follow the frontage road about ¾ mile to Arbutus Drive. Turn right (south) and then turn at the first right (Fox Run Road) to the Environmental Training Center at the south end of the parking lot.
