4/20/2017 - 4/20/2017

Event Description

JTAC Presentation
Pilot Scale Evaluation of AirPrex for Phosphorus
Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Description: Waste sludge from biological phosphorus removal (Bio P) systems has been associated with negative impacts to anaerobic solids digestion and dewatering processes. Ahead of instituting a full plant Bio P process, Metro Wastewater Reclamation District’s Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility conducted an in depth pilot scale investigation of AirPrex™ (CNP Technology Water and Biosolids Corp., Kenosha, WI) as a possible approach to mitigate undesirable effects of Bio P on the RWHTF’s solids treatment and handling processes. Analysis results and subsequent modeling were used to evaluate the technology against five primary criteria: phosphorus recycle control, biosolids dewatering, nuisance struvite reduction, minimization of phosphorus in biosolids for land application, and product recovery.

Speaker: Blair Wisdom, Process Engineer (MWRD)

Directions: From I-25 exit 58th Avenue and turn right (east), turn left onto York Street to head north towards the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility. From York Street turn right into the entrance and check in at the gate. Proceed to the Technical Services Building (TSB) where you will be given your badge. The TSB is located in the main plant campus. After leaving the security gate, proceed about ½ mile to the first stop sign. The TSB is on the NW corner of that intersection. Parking is available at the TSB itself, or across the entrance road to the east. DON’T FORGET TO BRING IDENTIFICATION TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE CAMPUS AT THE SECURITY GATE.
