The CEDP.BC Professional Development Course is a cornerstone offering of the BC Economic Development Association and a required component of the CEDP.BC (Certified Economic Development Professional – British Columbia) designation.

Delivered over four intensive days, this in-person program brings together economic development professionals, local government leaders, Indigenous partners, and industry experts to build the knowledge, skills, and practical tools needed to succeed in today’s evolving economic landscape.

Participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that reflects the real-world demands of the profession, including:

• Ethical economic development and leadership in the first 90 days
• Data-driven decision-making and economic analysis
• Planning and economic development integration
• Foreign direct investment attraction and retention
• Economic development marketing and community positioning
• Business retention and expansion (BRE) strategies
• Entrepreneurship and small business development
• Economic development finance and funding tools
• Indigenous and local government partnerships
• Real estate and land development fundamentals

The course combines expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and applied learning exercises designed to ensure participants can immediately apply concepts within their communities.

The program also includes the opportunity to complete the CEDP.BC certification exam, as well as collaborative community-based project work, reinforcing practical, hands-on learning.
