British Columbia Economic Development Association

The British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA) is presenting its 2022 Annual Summit in a hybrid format from April 3rd to 5th, 2022 (tentative).   This is an opportunity to highlight success stories, lessons learned, share cutting-edge ideas, and engage your colleagues at the premier event for economic development practitioners in British Columbia.  The annual BC Economic Summit attracts over 200 local, regional, Indigenous, national and international experts in the field of economic development and elected officials from various parts of our province.   BCEDA is seeking compelling session proposals to ensure a comprehensive program.  The Summit theme is Reconciliation and Resiliency - A Future for BC.

With the uncertainty around public health restrictions, we are planning a hybrid Summit, where delegates can choose to attend virtually or in-person.  The program will be delivered over two and a half days utilizing a comprehensive interactive virtual event platform to enhance your Summit experience.

We will have a great lineup of speakers from leading economic development experts and peers, a program that will include many panel discussions and interactive discussion forums as well as exhibits, BC Economic Development Awards and networking opportunities.

The BCEDA is BC’s largest membership organization serving the economic development profession. From public to private, rural to urban and local to international, our members represent the entire range of economic development experiences.

Each year we look for speakers to address a wide variety of current economic development trends. If you have a relevant topic you would like to present and feel that your subject will be of interest to our audience, we would like to hear from you.   Whether you are associated with education, Local, Regional or Indigenous Governments, or the private sector, we invite you to submit your presentation proposal for consideration.

It will be important to remember in your submission to talk about how your presentation reflects the intended theme of Reconciliation and Resiliency.  Some examples include:
  • Indigenous and Municipal Partnerships
  • Industry, Municipal and Indigenous Partnerships
  • Diversity, innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Arts and Culture as an Economic Tool
  • Cultural Tourism
  • Business Engagement and Resiliency
  • Using Data to overcome challenges
  • Workforce Development Strategies
  • and more.
