GLMA Welcomes New Executive Director: Alex Sheldon

Amidst the ever-changing landscape of our world, GLMA's unwavering commitment to advancing LGBTQ+ equality remains steadfast. Our GLMA family, including our members, staff, and board of directors, has continually supported GLMA's work in various ways, as we navigate new challenges in promoting LGBTQ+ health and supporting LGBTQ+ health professionals. As a small but mighty organization, it is with great excitement that I, on behalf of the board of directors, introduce GLMA's new permanent executive director, Alex Sheldon!

Welcome to GLMA's Policies and Position Statements!

GLMA is committed to ensuring health equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons and equality for LGBTQ+ health professionals in their work and learning environments. GLMA recognizes that many LGBTQ+ people experience an intersection of discrimination based on sexual orientation, indigenous heritage, citizenship status, veteran status, race, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, housing status, ability, age, body size, and class (in addition to other identities). GLMA is committed to dismantling biases from these other structural contributors to assure health equity and professional equality. Our policies and position statements focus on issues important to all LGBTQ+ communities, understanding that their application requires embedding them in a greater context of structural discriminatory issues.

GLMA's Policies and Position Statements are developed through the Policy and Government Affairs Committee. If you are interested in proposing a topic for the Committee to consider, please contact policycommittee@glma.org.
