Description:
Presentation 1: Patuxent Plant Residuals Management
Speaker: Robert Lee Nally Jr
Robert.nally@wsscwater.com
The Patuxent Water Treatment Plant is one of two filtration plants in WSSC Water and provides approximately 40% of total demand. Source water is drawn from the Howard T. Duckett reservoir and is made potable using conventional treatment. Until recently, residuals from the water treatment process were sent to the Parkway Water Resource Recovery Facility. A Residuals Handling building was placed in service during the Phase II expansion project at the end of 2018. Since then, Patuxent has utilized the centrifuges in the RHB to dispose of residuals. This presentation will discuss the residuals management program at Patuxent and address the issues we have faced since start up.

Presentation 2: Potomac WFP Residuals Management
Speaker Name: Dinesh Bahadursingh
dinesh.bahadursingh@wsscwater.com
The Potomac Water Filtration Plant (along with the Patuxent WFP) provides drinking water to Montgomery and Prince Georges County.  Source water is drawn from the Potomac River.  Due to the flashy nature of the Potomac River, solids concentration and composition varies - this can pose a challenge to the conventional treatment process as well as the dewatering process.  This presentation will discuss the current residuals management program at the Potomac WFP as well as future expansion.
