We look forward to seeing you at the 2025 Winter Quarterly Meeting where we will be focusing on practice management courses and a panel discussion on January 25 at the Rocky Mountain University (1800 S Novel Pl, Provo, UT / 8th floor).
This event is free to all UOA members and optometry students, but registration is required. If you’d like to invite anyone who is an OD, but not a UOA member, the cost is $100 for this event. You may register one office manager/staff member, but we ask that they pay $15 to cover the cost of their lunch (lunch is free for ODs and students).

10 – 11 am: Culture of Optimizing Patient Outcomes (Dr. Mark Curtis) Cope Accredited (COPE number: 94682-PM) Description: Discover how your personal competitive advantage can empower you and your staff to connect with patients in a more meaningful way while simultaneously reducing office stress. Common barriers to optimal patient outcomes and their solutions discussed.
11 – 12 pm: Coding and billing (Dr. Darin Cummings) Cope Accredited (COPE number: 94849-PM) Description: This course is designed to help with our medical decision making when billing for services we render to our patients. This includes what tests can be performed with others and what to expect on medical reimbursement. We will also explore vision vs medical plans and how to navigate through them. Finally, there will be examples of specific cases and how to code and bill the services.

3 – 4:30 pm: Practice Management Panel Discussion (Not CE accredited)
We are excited to offer a practice management panel discussion at this meeting with some amazing panelists. We will split into 4 sections and the panelists will discuss for helpful topics pertaining to practice management. Each panelist will lead a 20-minute discussion on a certain topic and then everyone will rotate to a new panelist discussion. The panelists will discuss 4 helpful topics:
1. Beat the competition by giving patients a 5-star experience with Dr. Michael Peterson
2. Buying a practice and expanding your practice with Dr. Collin Gray
3. Hiring or contracting with appropriately licensed esthetician employees with Dr. Darin Cummings
4. Tips for selling/buying a private practice with Dr. Lanny DuClos
