We look forward to seeing you at the 2026 UOA Winter Quarterly Meeting, where we will be focusing on practice management courses with a course taught by a financial expert and a course taught by a lawyer on February 19 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center (1355 W 3100 S, West Valley City, UT 84119).
This event is free for all UOA members and optometry students; however, registration is required. If you’d like to invite anyone who is an OD, but not a UOA member, the cost is $50 for this event. You may register one office manager/staff member, but we ask that they pay $20 to cover the cost of their dinner (dinner is free for ODs and students).
Schedule: 6:30 – 7:30 pm: UOA business meeting w/dinner
7:30 – 8:30 pm: "Rules of the Road" with Amy Marty, Cope Pending Course Outline: This presentation offers 10 principals for sound investing. It also discusses the most common investing mistakes and how to avoid them.
8:30 – 9:30 pm: "Buying, Selling, or Partnering in an Optometry Practice" with Kevin Dorman, Cope Pending Course Outline: This course provides a comprehensive overview of the financial, legal, and strategic considerations involved in buying, selling, or partnering in an optometry practice. Attendees will learn how different deal structures—asset sales, equity sales, all-cash transactions, earnouts, equity rollovers, seller financing, and partnership models—affect valuation, taxes, liability, and long-term outcomes. The course also examines private equity involvement in optometry, enabling practitioners to navigate modern ownership transitions with confidence and clarity.
