Splash Obvara is a process that is part of the Alternative Firing program. This registration is for artists firing thier own pieces.

Prep instructions.
Clay pieces must be made from WS-5 clay and terra signed once dry. Bisque will be special low temperature so participants must place work in the window staging area. With a yellow Raku slip clearly labeled-Obvara. Instructor will manage bisque firing process. Firing stickers required. 

Day of firing:
On firing day, participants must wear cotton or wool pants, long sleeved tops, closed toe shoes and socks. Hats to cover hair and eye wear are also required.

The  process involves two people removing hot pots from the kiln. Participants will sprinkle sugar, splash fermented mixture and have pieces dipped. Up to three reasonably sized pieces per participant.
