Grow Your Farming Business

Increase your understanding of businesses practices that will help your farm thrive! Join this two-day, hands-on workshop, presented by Ann Adams of Holistic Management International, and learn the intricacies of business practices that can enhance your farming operation. Be sure to bring your financial records -- including things like sales, profits, losses, inputs, etc -- to make the most out of this workshop!

The two-day workshop will cover:

• Basic goal setting techniques and analysis tools for your farm
• Understanding key employment issues 
• Key financial principles and practices
• Enterprise analysis tools 
• Enterprise and business investment tools
• Annual production plan basics
• Marketing plan basics
• Simple strategic plan template for SMART goal development
• Basic risk management analysis
 
Your Trainer: 
Ann Adams has been a Holistic Management Certified Educator since 1998 and has practiced and taught Holistic Management® in multiple capacities for 20 years. She currently serves as Executive Director for the organization and is responsible for day-to-day management as well as strategic planning. Ann has facilitated classes onsite and distance learning classes, taught workshops, and presented at conferences. She has written countless articles, helped develop agriculture-based software for financial and grazing planning and a Holistic Cropping Planning Manual, and written a training handbook, At Home with Holistic Management: Creating a Life of Meaning, published in 1999. She owns a small farm in the Manzano Mountains, southeast of Albuquerque, New Mexico where she raises goats and chickens. (www.landlinknm.org)

AUDIENCE:   Small to mid-size produce, fruit, and flower growers

DATES: Tuesday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 12
Attendees MUST be able to attend BOTH classes; this is a two-part training.

TIME: 9 AM - 5 PM (both days)

WHERE: Mid Region Council of Government (MRCOG), 809 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102  (See parking instructions below).

COST: FREE for members of the NMFMA. A farmer membership is $25/year. Due to limited seating, only one representative from each member farm may attend free of charge. Additional attendees pay $75 (for both days) and will be wait-listed until open registration closes on Dec.4th.

FOOD: Snacks and beverages will be provided. Brown bag lunches are suggested.
