Brown Bag WEBINAR #5 - Improving Family Outcomes
7/22/2020 - 7/22/2020
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Event Description

Communication problems continue to plague families in divorce and separation. While more correspondence is taking place over social media, e-mail, and texting, from the court’s perspective, these forms of communication are often unreliable and can be easily manipulated. In turn, court dockets continue to be overloaded with custody cases coming back multiple times, with many of the disputes revolving around communication breakdowns.

Presented by Judge Laura Miller, Dr. Lori Love & Matt Havrevold, this presentation will delve into the various co-parenting pitfalls that so often result in families returning to court. Panelists will define common behaviors in relevant case types (i.e. high conflict, DV, coercive control) and discuss methods and resources for addressing these prevalent behaviors.  Panelists will demonstrate how co-parenting apps utilize built-in rules and detailed documentation to create a framework for amicable communication in a variety of case types.

Attendees will learn how attorneys, parenting coordinators, and court-appointed professionals can stay informed of co-parent communication through the use of online tools, to oversee parent activity, and intervene when necessary.

This presentation qualifies for 1.0 MCLE in Family Law Custody.
