Illinois Water Environment Association
Electrical Distribution and Control
Description:
IWEA has expanded the list of committees to reintroduce a committee to focus on the electrical challenges that face our water environment. Committee Chair, Samantha Pacella, P.E., is honored to have the opportunity to redevelop this committee from the ground level.
As the name implies, the new Electrical Distribution and Controls Committee (ED&C) will focus on three technical areas: electrical power systems, electrical energy cost and efficiency, and control systems. Whether it's the electrical power reliability needed for advanced UV or ozone disinfection systems; the rising cost of electrical energy that impacts the financial bottom-lines of all organizations; or the sophisticated controls systems needed to automatically operate and optimize modern membrane filtration systems. Each area is critical to the performance and success of the water and wastewater related infrastructure.
The ED&C Committee seeks to educate and share general knowledge on the electrical issues important to our industry. Ultimately, the committee hopes to provide this information through a variety of avenues - articles in The Clarifier, LinkedIn posts, participation at the annual IWEA conference, stand-alone seminars and educational sessions, and web-based content on www.iweasite.org. To meet this lofty goal, the ED&C Committee is seeking members. If you are interested in participating in the committee, please contact Samantha Pacella at pacellas@mwrd.org.
