Boots on the Ground PWO – NTP Edition
5/15/2019 - 5/15/2019

Event Description
Course name:  Boots on the Ground PWO – NTP Edition
Presenting facility-specific wastewater treatment technology from a real-life Operations perspective

RMWEA is sponsoring the launch of a new PWO event:  “Boots on the Ground”, where we explore the practical application, troubleshooting, and personal experience of wastewater treatment technology from the Operations perspective.  The event will encompass presentations made by the Operators and Inline Instrument Specialists who work with the equipment and processes on a daily basis.  We will discuss the process theory, history of operating the process and/or equipment, modifications needed for real-life application and/or changing conditions, and all the ingenious troubleshooting made by O&M and Inline staff.  We will follow up presentations and discussions with field visits of the actual process at the plant, to get a real ‘boots on the ground’ view.  Networking and question/answer sessions are also encouraged, to help us all learn as  a regional community.

The NTP Edition will be held at the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District’s new 4.2 avg MGD/28.8 rated MGD facility, the Northern Treatment Plant, to discuss the startup, operation, and troubleshooting of several key systems of the plant:  Secondary treatment (5-stage bardenpho with step-feed, and 100% SWAS), Tertiary treatment (flocculation/sedimentation using alum + course sand filtration), Post-Aerobic Digestion (mitigating sidestream nitrogen and phosphorus loading), and an overview of the inline instrumentation systems of the plant (which makes it all possible).

We are asking to limit attendance to municipal wastewater treatment plant field workers and supervisors.  The launch of this PWO series is an effort to connect field workers to share real-life operational experience of wastewater treatment.
