TAC Facility Tour

City of Longmont WWTP - Three Wastewater Topics for the Price of One!

Exciting things are happening in Longmont! Come join the presentation and site tour at the Longmont Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Three presenters from the City will discuss three recent projects: biosolids dewatering facility, biogas treatment and renewable natural gas fueling station, and their exciting operational philosophy as a response and strategy to address Regulation 100.

Joe Michalski will briefly discuss the recently constructed biosolids dewatering facility with a focus on cake pumping and truck loadout facilities. John Gage will discuss the City’s nearly completed Biogas Treatment and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Fueling Station for their City’s fleet of refuse/trash trucks. This project not only results in cost savings on vehicle fuel but will also receive renewable energy credits and obtained grant funding. Finally, Audra Agajanian will discuss their strategies to respond to Regulation 100. The regulation stipulates that “All delegated tasks or activities that could affect water quality or quantity, effluent quality or quantity, or the facility’s integrity must be included in the operating plan.” The City has created a system within their Operating Plan to delegate these duties efficiently. To achieve this the City has tied the delegations to a new training plan that prepares new operators to run the facilities more independently and prepares the more experienced operators for more advanced tasks and troubleshooting.
PPE is required for the site tour (must bring your own PPE): safety vest, safety glasses, hard hat, and closed toed shoes. This tour is limited to 25 people so sign up now to reserve your space.
